MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Myrtle Beach are hosting the seventh annual Christmas Towne on Dec. 12.

The event will be held in exhibit halls A and B of the Myrtle Beach Convention Center from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m, and free parking will be offered to those attending.

While the event has been a yearly event for some time, new this year is an ice skating rink, which will accommodate up to 50 skaters at a time. Also new this year is a 15' snow globe families will be able to enter to have their pictures taken.

A station where children can write and mail their letters to Santa will be featured at the event, and free photographs with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be offered as well.

In addition, a 25' live Christmas tree will be decorated on the outdoor events plaza, and an official tree lighting ceremony will take place at 6 p.m.

"Christmas Towne is a great way to get everyone in the holiday spirit. By moving it inside, we're assured that the event will be fun for all attending regardless of the weather. We are delighted to host this free, community event and encourage kids of all ages to enjoy the new ice skating rink and other magical activities being offered," Amie Lee, MBACC director of festivals and special events said.

Christmas Towne will also be an official drop off site for Toys for Tots and Coats for Kids. Guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy or gently used coat to the event.
