Longs, SC -

LONGS, SC (WMBF) – A Sunday night shooting in Longs results in the death of one man, and Horry County Police are now asking for the public's help in locating the person they say is responsible.

Sgt. Robert Kegler, spokesperson for the Horry County Police Department, said officers responded to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in reference to a victim with a gunshot wound to his upper body.

The victim reportedly had been taken to the hospital following a shooting at 911 Pint Circle in Longs.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge said the victim, Omar Lakeem Bellamy, 18, later died from the injury around 1 a.m. Monday.

Bellamy's family is calling for justice in the case of what they call the senseless murder.

"It's sad and it's senseless that his life had to be ended at the age of 18, a month before his 19th birthday," said Paulette Evans, Bellamy's cousin.

Evans says the news hit even harder as it comes just two years after the family lost another member to murder.

"We just lost one in 2008 to a senseless murder. To lose another one in two years to another senseless murder. And we still ain't got justice from that one. We still ain't got over that one," she said.

Upon further investigation, one person has been identified as the shooter. Kegler said William Dearck Landy, Jr., 24, of Litter River, is wanted for the murder of Bellamy.

Landy is described as a black male standing approximately 5'6" and weighing around 170 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Detectives believe he is operating a black 2004 Chevrolet Impala SS with a SC tag reading GQI 249.

Landy is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Horry County Police Department at 915-TIPS.
