Let’s talk some trash in anticipation of Recycling Day

Posted: Updated:

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The Horry County Solid Waste Authority is helping spread the word for America's Recycle Day on Monday, and rewarding locals who continue to pitch in to help protect our environment.

They were out at the Wal-Mart on Seaboard Street on Saturday, where people were asked to join the effort by bringing items to recycle. Those who brought in 3 or more recyclables were given reusable water bottles or insulated grocery bags, items that are also being used daily by more and more people as a means to protect our environment.

Although the Solid Waste Authority urges people to recycle daily, they will also be out on Monday at Smith Jones Park in Conway to help celebrate America's Recycling Day.

"We'll be celebrating Arbor Day and America Recycles day together," said Jennifer Sellers, with the Solid Waste Authority, "kind of a team effort."

There will also be 24 recycling drop off points throughout Horry County where metal, cardboard, glass and paper can be dropped off for recycling.
