ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Shon Carson

LAKE CITY, SC (WMBF) – There are a lot of words to describe Lake City running back Shon Carson: fast, electric, talented. One you wouldn't use: talkative.
"If you get anything other than ‘yes sir,' ‘no sir' out of him, you're doing very well," said Lake City head coach Jim Rowell.
Carson lets his play do the talking. A 2010 Shrine Bowl selection, Carson is committed to play football and baseball for the University of South Carolina.
"I made that decision because they're close to home," said Carson. "I want to keep my talents in South Carolina. A lot of people know me from around here; they can come see me play."
Carson's Panthers get ready to start their Class 2A playoff run Friday night as they host Lake City. Carson said his commitment was, in part, to get ready for the postseason.
"I just had to commit so I could take some pressure off me, focus on the team and get ready for the playoffs," said Carson.
As for next year, Carson will enroll at USC after his senior season. He says he's going to play centerfield and shortstop for the baseball team. The man of few words has a short, simple goal for his time in Columbia.
"Help them win a national championship in both sports," said Carson.
