The last time I checked there are an estimated 300 million people living in the United States - three hundred million. And yet one pastor from a tiny church in Florida with 50 or so members created a huge stir with people across the globe thinking he was representative of the beliefs of the 299,999,950 other Americans.
Consider This: This nut job preacher was simply looking for attention and unfortunately his media grab caused uproar around the world. What's shocking to me is that people really cared that one guy in Gainesville, FL, was planning to burn a Quran.
The sad part is the terrorists would have used this image to rally their radical members and justify attacks on Americans across the globe. Yet in the countries where they live, people can be stoned to death for minor crimes or offenses, but I guess that's OK.
Well here's the message that rest of the world should really understand: In America, unless you are breaking some law or ordinance, you can burn the Quran, you can burn the Bible, you can burn the American Flag, in fact, you can do all sorts of things that you can't do in other countries because we live in a democracy, the Land of the Free.
So rather than getting bent out of shape that one guy out of 300 million was going to burn a book, perhaps these other countries should look in the mirror at their own policies and consider how wonderful it is to live in a country where this person is allowed to burn this book in the first place.
