Man dies following NMB water rescue

North Myrtle Beach, SC - NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Efforts to revive an unresponsive man were unsuccessful following a quadruple water rescue in Cherry Grove late Monday morning.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the water rescue at 10:30 a.m. in an area near Hog Inlet. A man, woman and two children were rescued by beach patrol members of the North Myrtle Beach Public Safety Department.

Bridger Smith, 37, of Pinehurst, NC was immediately transported to the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, where efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

North Myrtle Beach Assistant City Manager Steven Thomas has not commented on the condition of the other three victims.
