CHARLESTON, SC (AP) - About 1,000 dogs got the chance to cool off at a water park near the South Carolina coast.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported more than 900 dogs had been counted an hour before the Whirlin' Waters at Wannamaker County Park closed late Sunday afternoon in North Charleston.
It was the second annual Dog Day Afternoon at the park, which allowed larger dogs to cool off in the 27,000-square foot wave pool. Smaller dogs splashed in the kiddie pool. About 600 dogs had attended last year.
Humans were not allowed into the water. The park has closed for the year. Owners paid $10 and had to show their dogs had been vaccinated before they were allowed in the water.
