(NBC) - Snacking is as popular as ever, and dietitian Danielle Lipparelli says it's a common approach to losing weight.
"You need to plan snacks just as importantly as you need to plan your meals," she explained.
That means keeping the calories down. However, snacking isn't always about losing weight. Sometimes it's about losing time.
Fast food restaurants are picking up on this and have seen sales go up in the afternoon snack time. According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, McDonalds most popular snack items are coffee drinks, smoothies, snack wraps and small desserts such as the snack-size McFlurry.
