From Francis Marion University:

FLORENCE, SC – Francis Marion University will observe Constitution Day with a presentation by former U.S. Attorney for S.C. Rene' Josey and Solicitor for the 12th Judicial Circuit of South Carolina Ed Clements III.

The program will begin at 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 14 in the Lee Nursing Building's Thomason Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.

The lecture is titled "Can firearms be regulated without violating the U.S. Constitution?"

Clements is now serving his third term as solicitor. He obtained his undergraduate degree from FMU in 1979 and the University Of South Carolina's School Of Law in May of 1990.

Josey has been employed with Turner Padget Law Firm since 2001. He graduated from Clemson University in 1982 before getting his law degree from the USC in 1985.

Constitution Day honors the signing of the Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787. U.S. Sen. Robert C. Byrd of West Virginia inserted language into the 2005 federal spending bill that requires all educational institutions, including colleges and universities, which receive federal funds from any agency to have programming for Constitution.
