Little River, SC - LITTLE RIVER, SC (WMBF) - A boat that's aimed at bringing gaming entertainment to Little River is bringing a lot more, according to some neighbors.
People who live near the Aquasino boat tell WMBF News the boat has become a constant source of noise and smoke for their neighborhood.
"The sound wakes up at midnight every night [and] then when they dock, it takes 30 minutes to two hours for that noise to subside," Ann Carris, a 17-year resident of the Little River area, said.
Neighbors said the problems first arose after the boat launched in May. Another casino boat operates near the same dock, but neighbors say only the Aquasino boat has generated the constant humming noise.
"It's not the loudness of it. Its just the constant hum," said one neighbor.
Casino boats have been in Little River for over a decade, but the Aquasino boat began operations just this summer. A representative for the SunCruz Aquasino company said they've been working with the concerned neighbors for months.
"Its very important to us that everyone is satisfied. For months, we've been working with them and we will continue to work with them," spokesman Tom Herron said.
Neighbors have asked Horry County Council to step in and come up with a solution. So far, neighbors say no solution has been developed.
