Police investigate grand larceny at NMB horse stable

North Myrtle Beach, SC -

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Investigators in Horry County are searching for the person responsible for stealing two ATVs and nearly $1,900 worth of horse tack from a North Myrtle Beach stable.

Officers were dispatched on Aug. 31 to the Inlet Point Stables in North Myrtle Beach after receiving reports of a larceny. Upon arrival, investigators learned a green 2008 Ranger ATV and a red 2009 Razor ATV were taken from the property, according to Horry County Police spokesman Sgt. Robert Kegler.

In addition to the two ATVs, it was discovered that $1,875 worth of horse tack was also stolen from the stables. Employees told investigators all of the items were in place when they left for the night on Aug. 30.

Surveillance video collected by police revealed a white van driving in the area of Little River Neck Road, near the site of the thefts on Aug. 30 at 6:19 p.m. Officials said hitched to the van was a flat bed trailer.

The van is said to have a sign on the passenger side of the vehicle, but is unidentifiable in the surveillance video. Police are asking for help in identifying the vehicle and are considering its driver as a person of interest.

Anyone with information on the thefts or the identity of a suspect is asked to call detectives with the Horry County Police Department at 843-915-5350.
