MARION COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A deputy in Marion County has been arrested after allegedly throwing a computer monitor at a woman on Sunday.

Deputy Brian Woodberry, 27, of Marion, has been charged with criminal domestic violence after deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Office were called to a residence in regards to a dispute.

Investigators allege Woodberry was attempting to pick up a computer at the residence when an argument with a woman ensued. Officials said Woodberry threw a computer monitor at the woman, hitting her in the leg. The woman suffered a small cut on her lower leg as the result of Woodberry's actions.

"Sheriff's investigators got a statement from the victim [and] then contacted Deputy Woodberry to come to the Marion County Sheriff's Office," Sheriff Mark Richardson said. "Woodberry denied the incident ever happened and requested an attorney."

Woodberry was released from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a $2,500 surety bond on Monday at 9 a.m.

Richardson said Woodberry resigned from the Marion County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday morning.
