1 dead, 11 hurt in NC city's night of gun violence

Durham, NC - DURHAM, NC (AP) - Authorities say one man was killed and another wounded in a shooting that was part of a night of gun violence in a North Carolina city.

Durham police told multiple media outlets that the fatal shooting was part of an attempted robbery around 10:20 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators say witnesses gave officers a description of an SUV involved in the shooting, and a traffic stop a few minutes later led to the arrest of 18-year-old Deandre Rucker and a 15-year-old boy.

Rucker was charged with murder and attempted robbery. He remains in the Durham County jail and it isn't clear if he had an attorney. About five hours later, Durham police say 10 people were injured, two seriously, as a car fired shots into a home. No arrests have been made in that case.
