One dead in Georgetown County accident

GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances that led to a fatal accident in Georgetown County on Sunday evening.

A spokesman with the agency said the accident between two cars and a moped occurred just before 5 p.m. along Highway 701. The site of the accident, according to investigators, was near Mansfield Road.

The driver of one of the cars died at the scene. The Georgetown County coroner identified the victim as Santos Morales, 37, of Georgetown.

The drivers of the second car and moped were both taken to the Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
