McColl, SC - MARLBORO COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A 65-year-old McColl man is facing 10 charges after investigators allege he sexually assaulted five female relatives between the 1970s and late 1990s.
The State Law Enforcement Division has charged James Everette Grooms, 65, with seven counts of lewd acts upon a gild under 16 and three counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
Arrest warrants issued by the agency allege Grooms sexually assaulted the 5 to 14-year-old girls at or near his home in 1998. Allegations, according to officials, range from groping to kissing the victims.
Officials believe there could be other victims who have not reported similar allegations to officials.
"Despite the passage of time, additional charges against Grooms are potentially prosecutable," SLED spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said.
Anyone with information on other allegations against the 65-year-old is asked to call SLED investigators at 1-800-414-2826.
