Autopsy reveals Scranton man died from gunshot wound

Scranton, SC - SCRANTON, SC (WMBF) - A 39-year-old man whose body was found inside of a Scranton home on Tuesday died from a single gunshot wound, according to autopsy results from the Medical University of South Carolina.

The body of Jimmy L. Spring II, 39, of Scranton, was found Tuesday after deputies received reports of a suspicious death at 2304 Salem Rd. around 8 a.m.

Neighbors in the area said Spring was discovered on the floor of his home by his 6-year-old son.

Florence County Coroner Bubba Matthews said he has reason to classify Spring's death as suspicious. Matthews said it's too early to rule the manner of death as a homicide or suicide.

Spring died one day before his 40th birthday.
