Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Members of the Myrtle Beach Community Appearance Board are expected to review plans Wednesday for a four-building addition at an affordable housing complex along Mr. Joe White Avenue.
Progress Builders has submitted plans for a 56-unit addition and a 1,747 square foot clubhouse at the Bay Pointe Apartments, according to a meeting agenda.
The complex is the newest addition to affordable housing options in Myrtle Beach and is partially funded through an IRS tax credit program that the state distributes to developers.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, one-third of Myrtle Beach residents are in need of affordable housing, or rent that consumes no more than 30 percent of a person's income. Rent for the new apartments will be capped based on income.
