DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) - Investigators with the Darlington Police Department are investigating rape allegations involving a teenager and 12-year-old girl.

Capt. Danny Watson, spokesman for the department, said officers were dispatched to an address on Bacote Street at 7:10 p.m. Sunday after learning of the alleged sexual crime.

Officers arrested and charged Mildenzel Davis, 19, of Darlington, with criminal sexual assault of a minor and committing a lewd act on a child. The teen was also cited for simple possession of marijuana.

"This is a particularly bad situation and hopefully we will bring it to a successful conclusion as soon as possible," Watson noted.

Officials said the investigation into the allegations is ongoing.
