Dillon, SC - DILLON, SC (WMBF) - Investigators with the State Law Enforcement Division have arrested and charged Dillon Mayor Pro-Tem Randolph Gurley with attempted murder, according to the agency.
An arrest warrant issued by the agency alleges Gurley, 56, verbally threatened to kill a person while on the corner of Ninth Avenue and Beaufort Street in Dillon on Aug. 24. Officials claim Gurley intentionally struck the victim with his Cadillac Escalade and did not stop the vehicle after hitting the man.
The victim, according to SLED spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons, suffered injuries to his neck, ribs and hands as a result of the incident.
Gurley was previously charged in July with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature. The mayor pro-tem was accused of verbally threatening to harm his wife during an argument.
Gurley is currently being held at the Dillon County Detention Center.
