Florence, SC - FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Police are pressing a lengthy list of charges against three men they believe were at the center of a recent crime spree in Florence.
Damon Allen, 20, was charged with armed robbery and kidnapping early Sunday morning by Florence Police for his alleged role in an armed robbery at a Kangaroo convenience store.
Florence Police Maj. Carlos Raines said officers were dispatched to reports of an armed robbery at 717 Second Loop Road at 2 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, the clerk reported he was robbed at gunpoint by two black males.
According to police, one of the suspects pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the clerk while being carded for a pack of cigarettes. The clerk told police the two suspects then walked around the counter and demanded money.
The two suspects later fled from the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.
An officer patrolling a nearby area located two males fitting the description of the armed robbery suspects at a nearby Kangaroo convenience store, located at 728 Cashua Dr. As the officer checked the store for suspicious vehicles, the two suspects were spotted walking out of a set of bushes on an adjoining property.
Maj. Carlos Raines, spokesman for the department, said the two men were asked to sit down on a nearby curb for questioning when one of the suspects fled the area. Questioning led the officers to arrest Allen on armed robbery, attempted armed robbery and kidnapping charges.
Further investigation revealed Allen's alleged connection to an attempted armed robbery reported at a Courtyard Marriott hotel in Florence.
Officials allege Allen and two other men attempted to rob a person entering a room at the Courtyard Marriott on Aug. 21. Raines said the victim was struck in the back of the head with a handgun before fleeing the area to call police.
Allen was additionally charged Thursday with one count of attempted armed robbery and third degree assault and battery for his role in the incident.
Two others, according to Raines, have been charged in connection to the same three crimes. Shallah Allah Marshall, 21; and David Davodjoe Brown Jr., both of Florence, were charged by police with armed robbery and two counts of attempted armed robbery.
Marshall has also been charged in connection to an armed robbery at We Buy Jewelry, located at 400 Pamplico Hwy., on Wednesday afternooon.
All three suspects have been booked into the Florence County Dentention Center.
