Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – At Broadway at the Beach, store owners say business has been great this past summer. Broadway signed 17 new leases to stores back in April, and most of those businesses say they've seen lots of customers.
Gayleann Witkowski, store manager of Tervis Tumbler, says Broadway has been a great location for the store.
"It's just a wonderful place to be," said Witkowski. "It's busy all the time. Nights just fly by, because we're so busy, so it's been wonderful. We're very happy here. We're very happy that we picked this particular spot to be in."
Stephanie Webster of Broadway at the Beach says that's right on track with what most stores have seen.
"We started off a little slow, but summer - we've seen spikes as much as 50 percent on a day over previous years," explained Webster. "So depending on the day of the week, and what kind of holiday, and things like that, it's kind of varied, but overall, slow start to the year, but definitely made up for it this summer."
Webster notes there are some advantages for opening up a store in Broadway, like a built-in customer base.
However, at least one of those 17 businesses is now closed. Mason's at the Beach now sits with signs on its doors and windows notifying customers that another restaurant will soon fill the space.
Webster says Broadway will continue to have concerts and special promotions to bring in visitors during the off-season.
