Florence, SC - FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Police in Florence have arrested a 58-year-old man on murder charges after allegedly shooting his brother during a heated argument Wednesday night.

Officers were dispatched to 306 E. Marlboro Street in Florence at 9 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting, according to Florence Police spokesman Maj. Carlos Raines. Upon arrival, police located a male victim with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Further investigation revealed two brothers became engaged in an argument over a phone Wednesday night at their mother's house. The mother, according to investigators, asked her two sons to leave the house when the fighting escalated.

The victim, identified as 43-year-old Robert Leon Shaw, was pronounced dead at a Pee Dee hospital at 9:33 p.m. Florence County Coroner Bubba Matthews said Robert Shaw died from a gunshot wound to the chest by a small caliber gun.

Florence Police later located Bobby Shaw at 2 a.m. outside of his mother's home following a brief search for the 58-year-old.

Raines said Bobby Shaw has been formally charged with murder in connection to the shooting. He is currently in custody at the Florence County Detention Center.
