JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - While the three R's are part of a good education, workers at a South Carolina health center just for teenagers want to emphasize the importance of good health.
The Point on Johns Island near Charleston holds a back to school open house on Thursday with music and prizes as well as health resources for teens.
Stephanie Friesner, family planning services manager for the state Department of Health and Environmental Control, says the idea is for teens to realize they can have fun and be healthy at the same time.
The Point is a joint program of DHEC and Communities in Schools, a dropout prevention program.
