Murrells Inlet, SC - MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) – Georgetown County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 50-year-old man late Wednesday night after a nine-and-a-half-hour standoff in Murrells Inlet.
Sean Roy Johnson was arrested from his residence in the 4300 block of Goude Street in Murrells Inlet on charges of criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature for allegedly pointing a handgun at his live-in girlfriend.
According to deputies, the standoff started after Johnson's girlfriend called 911 around 2 p.m. Wednesday saying he pointed a gun at her. She told dispatchers she was able to escape and Johnson was waiting for deputies on the front porch.
Deputies set up a perimeter around the residence, blocked off Goude Street and waited for SWAT members and negotiators to arrive.
Lt. Neil Johnson said Johnson fled from the rear of the home after nearly 10 hours of negotiations, and was captured by Georgetown County Sheriff's Deputies.
Sean Roy Johnson is currently being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
