MB Police: Man pulls gun at public beach access

Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A man pulled a gun on a group of people after an altercation Monday evening at a beach access, according to police.

Myrtle Beach Police report two people were changing clothes in a set of portable restrooms on Eighth Avenue North around 5:25 p.m. when one of the victims was confronted by a man about their time in the restroom.

A second person spoke with the suspect in regards to his language and alleged the suspect then turned his words at him. At some point during the verbal altercation, the victim felt he would be attacked physically and pulled out a weapon known as a "blackjack."

Police said the suspect responded by pulling out a small caliber handgun, which he pointed at the victims. The suspect fled the area towards Ninth Avenue North after learning police were en route to the beach access.

The suspect was described by police as a white male standing between 5'9" and 5'11" with short brown hair. The man is believed to weigh an estimated 200 pounds and be between 25 and 35 years old.

A woman at the scene was arrested for public intoxication, who the victims claimed that she was with the suspect. The woman stated that she only met the suspect moments before the incident.
