Reimer, Rosado earn Big South weekly honors

Charlotte, NC - From the Big South Conference:

CHARLOTTE, NC – Gardner-Webb junior forward Megan Reimer has been selected as the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women's Soccer Attacking Player of the Week, while High Point defender Danniel Rosado has earned the first-ever Defensive Player of the Week honor for games played the opening weekend of the 2010 season, it was announced today by the League office.

Reimer scored both goals in the Runnin' Bulldogs' 2-0 win at Jacksonville State.  She scored the opening goal in just the second minute of Friday's match, then added her second score six minutes later.  Reimer tallied four shots, including three on goal, in the matchup with the Gamecocks.

Rosado helped the Panthers start the season with a clean slate, as they topped Francis Marion, 1-0 in their home opener on Friday, August 20.  Her defense stopped several FMU opportunities and helped goalkeeper Andrea Ritchie face just two shots on net out of six total.  Rosado also contributed on the offensive side as she delivered a free kick into the box that led to the game's only goal from Becca Hemby.

Also nominated for women's soccer Attacking Player of the Week for Week 1: Marky Boyce (Charleston Southern), Hannah Brown (Coastal Carolina), Becca Hemby (High Point), Kate Baker (Presbyterian College) and Sahar Aklaki (Radford).

Nominated for Defensive Player of the Week for Week 1: Sarah Beth Anderson (Presbyterian College).
