Puppy Plunge fundraiser ends summer with a splash

Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A first-of-its-kind fundraiser sponsored by the Grand Strand Humane Society is letting a handful of four-legged friends end the summer with a splash.

Officials have announced the area animal shelter will be hosting the first "Puppy Plunge" fundraising event on Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wild, Water & Wheels in Surfside Beach.

The water park will be opening two pools for small and large dogs to cool off in. Owners attending the event will not be able to swim with the dogs.

"We want dogs to bring their parents for a splashing good time" said Sandy Brown, executive director. "We believe this is going to be a great event for the community and their dogs. I can't think of a better way to end summer."

Officials said tickets are on sale for $15 per dog/owner and $10 for guests. Each ticket includes a complimentary hot dog and soda. Tickets, however, are non-refundable.

Tickets can be purchased at the Grand Strand Humane Society or at Wild, Water & Wheels. Tickets can also be purchased by calling 843-918-4913.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Grand Strand Humane Society.
