MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A fire that sparked inside of a limo temporarily shut down two lanes of traffic along Robert Grissom Parkway on Monday afternoon.
A driver for the American Taxi Cab Company said he called 911 around 3 p.m. after noticing white smoke coming from the limo's engine. The driver said he attempted to divert his travels to a Kangaroo gas station when the smoke became too thick.
The driver said he pulled into the median along Robert Grissom Parkway, got out of the car and called for help.
Officials with the Myrtle Beach Fire Department temporarily closed two lanes of Robert Grissom Parkway while firefighters extinguished the fire.
All lanes have since reopened to traffic. Officials have not commented on what sparked the engine fire.
