Florence, SC - FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – Florence Police Officers have arrested one man in connection to an armed robbery that occurred early Sunday morning.

Damon Allen, 19, was charged with armed robbery and kidnapping.

Florence Police Maj. Carlos Raines said that at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Kangaroo convenience store located at 717 Second Loop Rd.

The clerk alleged that two black males entered the store and one asked to buy cigarettes. When the clerk asked for identification, the suspect pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the clerk. Both suspects then went behind the counter and asked the clerk to open the cash drawer. They took the money and fled the scene.

When the robbery was dispatched, police began monitoring the area. An officer drove to the Kangaroo convenience store located at 728 Cashua Dr. and reportedly found two black males on the property.  The officer confronted the suspects and ordered them to sit by the patrol car.

Allen sat down while the other suspect ran from the area. Allen's description matched that of the robbery suspect, and police are still working to identify and locate the other suspect.

Florence Police are investigating if the two suspects have been involved in other recent armed robberies in the area.
