TN man arrested on kidnapping, sexual assault charges

Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A Tennessee man was arrested on multiple charges in Myrtle Beach Sunday morning after allegedly attacking a 22-year-old woman and lying to police about his name.

Joshua Broadway, of Juliet, TN, was arrested around 6 a.m. Sunday after Myrtle Beach Police were dispatched to the Sandcastle South, located at 1800 N. Ocean Blvd. in Myrtle Beach.

Broadway told police he engaged in an argument with a 22-year-old woman inside of a hotel elevator when she suddenly attacked him by scratching his face and hitting him. Broadway claimed the woman continued to assault him while inside of a hotel room.

During the course of an investigation, police located the victim a short distance from the hotel along Ocean Boulevard. Police noted the victim had swelling around her right eye, rug burns on her knees, scratches and bruises.

The victim told police she engaged in an argument with Broadway inside of a hotel room when he jumped up, grabbed her by the throat and pushed her on to a bed. While on the bed, the victim said Broadway sexually assaulted her.

A police report claimed the victim was later grabbed by the hair and dragged to the floor by the suspect. The victim claimed Broadway then began hitting her with his elbows while pulling on her hair.

An investigation led police to arrest Broadway on kidnapping and third degree criminal sexual conduct charges.

Broadway was also charged with perjury after lying to police about his identity while being booked at the Myrtle Beach Jail.
