HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Mosquito spraying is expected to begin in Gunters Island and Green Sea next week, according to Horry County officials.
Horry County Mosquito and Spraying will be conducting aerial spraying between 7 p.m. and dusk, in addition to performing ground operations from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, weather permitting.
Officials state the chemicals used for mosquito control spraying have been approved by the EPA and pose a minimal risk to humans and animals. Those with respiratory illness or asthma are encouraged to stay indoors during the periods of spraying.
Residents of Gunters Island and Green Sea are also encouraged to wash homegrown fruits and vegetables before consumption.
To help keep our honeybee population safe, beekeepers are urged to contact Horry County Mosquito and Spraying to identify the location of their colonies.
