Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - One of the Grand Strand's largest golf course management companies has announced the recent acquisition of Pawleys Plantation Golf Club.

A spokesman for the Myrtle Beach National Company said the immediate acquisition includes all resort amenities and real estate on the property.

"The acquisition of this unique and scenic property just adds to the quality of the Myrtle Beach National Company's portfolio and we look forward to offering all of the outstanding amenities and golf facilities for everyone to experience for years to come," Jim Woodring, vice president of golf operations and marketing for the Myrtle Beach National Company, said.

The course, designed by Jack Nicklaus in 1988, was awarded four stars by Golf Digest in its 2008 "Best Places To Play Guide" and has been rated among the top 25 best golf courses in South Carolina by GOLF Magazine, Golf World and the South Carolina Golf Course Ratings Panel.

Pawleys Plantation, according to officials, also plays host to the Ritson-Sole Golf School. The school was rated in 2008 by GOLF Magazine as one of the "Top 25 Golf Schools in America."

With the acquisition, officials said the company now owns or manages 15 golf courses along the Grand Strand.
