MBPD investigates Broadway at the Beach stabbing

Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach Police are investigating a double stabbing reported at Broadway at the Beach early Thursday morning.

Myrtle Beach Police were called to Hard Rock Café, located at 1322 Celebrity Circle, around 1:45 a.m. after learning two New Jersey teens were stabbed as the result of an altercation.

Upon arrival, responding officers met with the two victims who said they were approached by an occupant of a silver car that had been following their vehicle around the parking lot.  One of the victims said he got out of his vehicle to speak to the suspect and was sliced in the neck with a knife.

The second victim told police he was also approached by the suspect after exiting the vehicle in his friend's defense and was stabbed in the neck. The two teens told police the vehicle fled Broadway at the Beach immediately after the incident.

Horry County Police initiated a traffic stop along Peach Tree Road on the suspect vehicle shortly after the altercation. Police detained each occupant inside of the car, including a 25-year-old man from Georgetown who officers believed was behind the two stabbings.

Capt. David Knipes, spokesman for the Myrtle Beach Police Department, said the 25-year-old suspect has yet to be formally charged.

The two teen victims were treated for non-life threatening injuries at the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
