CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – Coastal Carolina baseball's Scott Woodward had a difficult decision: return to Conway for his senior season or head for the pros.
Woodward was picked in the 15th round of this year's MLB Draft by the Oakland Athletics.
Woodward said he made his decision about halfway through the summer.
"It was a hard decision," said Woodward. "Oakland's a good organization, but I felt like I could develop myself more and come back to school, get my degree and play with the guys again. Hopefully I can raise my draft stock, but right now I'm just focused on school and baseball."
Woodward says he will move from third base to his more natural position, center field, for his senior year. Woodward was a key part of the Chants run to the NCAA Super Regionals this past season and hopes for similar success this year.
"It's unfortunate things didn't work out, but I think ultimately it's a great thing I came back," said Woodward.
