Conway program donates book bags, supplies to students

Conway, SC - CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Students participating in the "Dream A Dream" after-school program in Conway will be kicking off the school year on a good note with new book bags and school supplies.

According to program organizers, the supplies will be distributed Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. at the Darden Terrace Community Center. A second opportunity to receive the freebies will also take place on Thursday from noon until 2 p.m. at the Huckabee Heights Community Center.

Each site plays host to 60 children who participated in the program during the past school year.

Catina Hipp, spokeswoman for "Dream A Dream," said activities are scheduled to resume on Sept. 7. Huckabee Heights and Darden Terrace will host "Dream A Dream" on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The program is sponsored by the Housing Authority of Conway, Coastal Carolina University, Department of Juvenile Justice, Horry County Schools, The Genesis Center, the City of Conway and the Conway Police Department.
