Traffic checkpoint nets 1 arrest, 51 citations

Surfside Beach, SC - SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Fifty-one citations were issued during a traffic safety checkpoint conducted Friday by the Surfside Beach Police Department.

Capt. Arron Miller, spokesman for the agency, said officers conducted the checkpoint from 8-11 p.m. on a section of Glenns Bay Road near Sandy Lane.

Officers made one arrest and handed out 51 citations for charges ranging from driver's license and insurance violations to drug and alcohol violations.

"The Surfside Beach Police Department has been an active member and supporter of the 15th Circuit Law Enforcement Network for several years," Miller said. "The safety of the public on our roads is a priority of our department.

Approximately 25 officers from 12 various Horry and Georgetown County agencies participated in the checkpoint.
