Nationwide prostate screening tour stops in MB

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Studies say 1-in-6 men will be diagnosed with symptoms of prostate cancer.

A doctor usually notices this first signs of prostate cancer during a routine check-up. Its for these reasons why it's important for men to get check early in life, and now one Grand Strand organization is helping men get screened.

Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday teamed up with ZERO, the project to end prostate cancer, to host a mobile screening clinic in North Myrtle Beach Monday. Currently, the project is the only nationwide mobile and free prostate cancer screening program.

"This is a fantastic way for us to continue to operate the drive against prostate cancer, it makes us possible to be here, to provide unlimited amounts of testing when we're here," Skip Lockwood, ZERO CEO, said.

Lockwood said it has saved hundreds of lives.

"We estimate about 600 men of the 100,000 have had some kind of prostate issue, in which that this has been a useful tool to provide life-saving information for them."

Since Zero began in 2002, it has tested nearly 100,000 men.
