Blood drive draws competition from Hartsville police, firefighters

Hartsville, SC - HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - Hartsville's bravest are ditching their fire engines and police cruisers Thursday in a friendly competition aimed at saving lives across South Carolina.

Firefighters and police officers will be duking it out to see which team can recruit the most blood donors at Thursday's "Boots and Badges Blood Drive."

The blood drive, hosted by the American Red Cross, will be held at the Chat T.B. Thomas Sports Center Gym at 701 W. Washington St. from 1-6 p.m.

Participants will receive a free American Red Cross T-shirt and the chance to vote for their favorite boots or badges team.

To schedule an appointment at the blood drive, log onto RedCrossBlood.org using the sponsor code "CityOfHartsville." Appointments can also be scheduled by calling (800) RED-CROSS.
