Florence, SC - FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - A Pee Dee hospital will be celebrating quite the honor Thursday, as it is named the 2010 winner of the American Hospital Association's McKesson Quest for Quality Prize.
The award honors a variety of organizations committed to achieving excellence in quality and patient safety based upon the Institute of Medicine's six quality aims.
"McLeod Regional Medical Center receives this honor for continuously working to improve quality performance and fostering an environment where employees work ceaselessly to provide safe, high-quality care," American Hospital Association officials said in an announcement.
Officials cite McLeod Regional's progress in efficient care as a reason for the award, reducing door-to-provider time in the emergency room from 140 minutes in February 2008 to 60 minutes in August 2009.
McLeod Regional previously earned the McKesson Quest for Quality Citation of Merit in 2007.
