MARLBORO COUNTY, SC (WMBF) A 42-year-old man charged with murder in connection to a 2010 shooting in Marlboro County pleaded guilty in court Thursday.

Attorney General Alan Wilson says George Cousin was on trial for a crime that occurred in his home in McColl in July 2010, for which he received the maximum sentence of 30 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Marlboro County Sheriff Fred Knight said emergency dispatchers received reports of a shooting around 5 a.m. on July 18, 2010 at an address on 129 N. Stanton Ave.

Upon arrival, deputies found Tammy Locklear Norris, 42, of Brownsville, suffering from a gunshot wound. Norris was transported to a hospital in Charlotte to receive treatment for her injuries, but was pronounced dead.

Deputies arrested George Anthony Cousins, 42, at the scene of the shooting and charged him with murder in connection to Norris' death.

The State Law Enforcement Division assisted the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office in the shooting investigation.
