Kansas City, MO - KANSAS CITY, MO (AP) - A Kansas City, MO, Jesuit priest who is biking across the country for charity rode into Kansas City this weekend, about half way through his trip.
The Rev. Matt Ruhl and his dozen Cycling for Change companions peddled into Kansas City on Saturday for a gathering at Rockhurst University.
The Kansas City Star reports they arrived on Day 50 of a 5,000-mile journey that began Memorial Day in Washington state.
Ruhl expects to finish on Labor Day in Key West, Fla.
Ruhl is the outgoing pastor of St. Francis Xavier church in Kansas City. He and the other riders are trying to raise $1 million to promote the Catholic Charities USA Campaign to Reduce Poverty.
So far, they've collected at least $350,000.
