Darlington County, SC - DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) - Authorities are investigating after a Timmonsville man was fatally stabbed early Saturday.
Darlington County Deputies responded to a 911 call concerning a disturbance in the Timmonsville area of the county around 3 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived they found that a person had already left to go to the hospital following a stabbing.
Gary DuRant, 20, of Timmonsville died a short time later in an area hospital.
Investigators say DuRant forced his way into a home on Amere Drive and was stabbed by the home owner following an altercation.
According to the Darlington County Coroner's Office, once an autopsy is completed, they will work with the Sheriff's Office to decide whether charges will be filed.
"I will review all the evidence in the next few days. Once this has been done, I will meet with Sheriff Byrd and decide when and if an arrest will be made," said Coroner Todd Hardee.
