MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach High School quarterback Everett Golson is adding another honor to his already impressive resume. The school announced Friday that the former WMBF News Athlete of the Week will attend the ESPN RISE Elite 11 Quarterback camp, which each year invites the top 12 high school senior quarterbacks in the nation.
"Right now I still can't believe it," said Golson. "It kind of surpasses my thinking right now."
The camp will take place next week in Southern California. The Seahawks have known for a few weeks Golson would be invited, and they're proud of their signal caller's accomplishment.
"It's an honor for our team, our school and our community," said Myrtle Beach head coach Mickey Wilson. "We're really excited about him going out there and representing us."
Elite 11 alumni include names like Tim Tebow, Matthew Stafford and Mark Sanchez. Golso, who is committed to play at North Carolina, is a little taken aback by being in such elite company.
"It's an honor to be up there on that list," said Golson. "Hopefully when I go out there, I can compete and show them I'm one of the best out there."
