Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - After further investigation, authorities have determined that the man shot Friday at Mr. Joe White Avenue and Nance Street in Myrtle Beach was acting in self-defense.

According to Captain David Knipes of the Myrtle Beach Police Department, 29-year-old Tracy Washington of Canal Street in Myrtle Beach and Terrance Barr were both involved in the shooting that took place around 3p.m. Friday afternoon.

Washington received a gunshot wound to the hip.  Barr was determined to be acting in self-defense and will not be charged.

Washington is charged with two counts of attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Washington received two counts because there was an 8-month old child in Barr' vehicle.  Washington's vehicle had bullet holes in it resulting from the shooting.

Washington was treated at the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. His bond was denied and he is currently being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
