President of Coastal Education Foundation resigns

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - James L. Adams has resigned from his position as president of the Coastal Educational Foundation, according to an announcement Friday by Coastal Carolina University President David DeCenzo.

Adams cited personal reasons for stepping down from the position. His wife Donna passed away in May 2010 after a long illness. He plans to return to his former home in Lexington, VA.

Adams joined the CCU administration in May 2009 as vice president for University Advancement and executive director of the Coastal Educational Foundation, the nonprofit organization that receives charitable gifts in support of the University.

"Although Jim was with the University a relatively short time, the institution has benefited from his experience and guidance," said DeCenzo. "We wish him well as he returns to Virginia."

From 1998 to 2009, Adams was executive vice president and CEO of the VMI Foundation Inc. and executive director of the VMI Development Board at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, VA.
