Police jail Lake City man in late-night bar shooting

Lake City, SC - LAKE CITY, SC (WMBF) - A 77-year-old man is facing charges after police allege he shot a gun towards a group of people fighting at his bar in Lake City.

Lamar David Manigault, of Lake City, was charged with assault and battery with a high and aggravated nature after his arrest on Wednesday.

A spokesman for the Lake City Police Department said officers were called to the Eagles Nest Bar, located at 213 Cedar St., around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday in reference to a fight. Upon arrival, police learned two women had engaged in an argument in a corner of the bar when one had been shot.

According to officials, Manigault allegedly shot a .38 caliber gun towards the location of the fight and hit one of the women in the shoulder. The shooting victim was described by police as a 40-year-old black female.

The gunshot victim was taken by family members to Lake City Community Hospital to receive emergency medical treatment.

Police later transferred Manigault to the Florence County Detention Center.
