MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Oktoberfest will return to a South Carolina beach town to attract visitors to the beach in the autumn.
Oceanfront merchants have received a permit for the Oct. 9 event. Last year the celebration attracted about 10,000 people.
It's held downtown where the Myrtle Beach Pavilion amusement park once stood.
Organizers want to bring in a German oompah band and set up a 1-day sports bar in the center of Ocean Boulevard. The sports bar will allow folks to watch their favorite college football teams while attending the festival.
