MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A Myrtle Beach man has been jailed after police caught him in midst of a burglary on Sunday, according to the Horry County Police Department.

Sgt. Robert Kegler, spokesman for the agency, said officers were dispatched to an address on Seabert Road at 10 p.m. Sunday in reference to a burglary in progress. When police arrived, they arrested Rakeem Jamal Spivey, 19, of Myrtle Beach.

"It's disturbing, everyone says it's supposed to be a really nice neighborhood and then something like this happens." said Patrick Brown, a victim who lost his wallet in one of the earlier burglaries.

Further investigation of the property by officers led to the discovery of the homeowner's TV in a set of nearby bushes.

Kegler said police have also linked Spivey to five other burglaries within the same neighborhood in late June and early July. Spivey was also wanted by the Myrtle Beach Police Department on a burglary charge.

"My direct neighbors we keep an eye out for each other, I look out for their stuff, they look out for mine," said Ryan Tapper, who also lives in the neighborhood.

The 19-year-old has since been charged with five counts of first degree burglary and one count of second degree burglary.

He is currently in custody at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
