Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Members of the Myrtle Beach City Council are one step closer to approving the operation of rickshaws within city limits.
During a Myrtle Beach City Council meeting Tuesday, officials approved the first reading of an ordinance that would allow two companies to operate pedicab services in Myrtle Beach.
In terms of where the cabs could operate, city spokesman Mark Kruea said service would stretch along Ocean Boulevard, around Broadway at the Beach and into the Market Common area.
Kruea said the ordinance must pass one more reading on July 27 before it is set into motion.
The companies providing the pedicabs hope to begin service by the end of the summer.
