Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A 46-year-old man was taken into custody early Tuesday morning by Myrtle Beach Police after allegedly breaking a beer bottle over a man's head outside of a nightclub.
Officers were called to Club Congo, located at 1300 Carver St., after midnight Tuesday following reports of an assault. Upon arrival, a man told police he went inside of the club for a few drinks and was approached by another man who made threatening comments.
While waiting for a ride outside of the club to pick him up, the victim told police the suspect exited the building and proceeded to strike him in the head with a bottle. The suspect re-entered the club after the incident and proceeded to leave the area before police arrival.
Myrtle Beach Police located the suspect at the corner of Hemingway Street and Graham Avenue, where he was detained for further questioning. The suspect said he "had words" with the victim in the club over the music playing on the juke box.
The suspect, identified as Kenya Lee Lewis, 46, and placed him under arrest on a second degree assault charge. Lewis was transported by police to the Myrtle Beach Jail.
